Dermal therapy treatments

High potency medical chemical skin peels

At Geelong Veins Skin & Laser our dermal clinicians offer a range of medical skin peels in Geelong, from light rejuvenation to deep skin peeling. Each peel is selected based on your skin concerns, whether that’s pigmentation, acne, dullness or signs of ageing.

If you’re unsure which peel is right for you, we recommend starting with an Observ Skin Analysis so your dermal clinician can recommend the most suitable option.

Skin peels by Geelong Veins Skin & Laser

What exactly is a skin peel?

Skin peels use carefully formulated chemical solutions applied to the skin to exfoliate and remove dead or damaged skin cells.

Depending on the strength of the peel, they work at different depths of the skin to target concerns such as pigmentation, acne, fine lines and uneven texture.

As the skin heals, it produces new cells, resulting in smoother, brighter and more even-looking skin.

Peels can range from light exfoliating treatments through to deeper resurfacing peels, depending on your skin goals and tolerance.

What are the types of peels at GVSL?

Entry level peels:

  • Pumpkin enzyme and fruit acid peel
  • Bio-white peptide peel
  • Oxygenating enzyme peel
  • Milk peel
  • Crystal peel
  • Pigmentation peel-acne peel
  • Anti-aging peel

Advanced peels:

  • Cosmo peel (15% TCA, 18% TCA)
  • Mela peel forte
  • Cosmo peel forte (20% TCA, phenol, glycolic)

Preparing for your appointment

To prepare for your skin peel:

  • Avoid retinol and exfoliating acids for 3–5 days prior
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning
  • Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin
  • Inform your clinician of any active skin conditions
  • Follow any pre-treatment skincare advice provided

Your clinician will select the most suitable peel based on your skin type and concerns.

Post-treatment guidelines

After a skin peel, you may experience:

  • Redness or warmth
  • Tight or dry skin
  • Light flaking or peeling (depending on peel depth)
  • Temporary sensitivity
  • Downtime varies depending on the strength of the peel, but most light peels have minimal recovery.

Results include improved skin clarity, smoother texture and a more even complexion. A series of treatments is often recommended for best results.

Everything you need to know
What is the difference between a medical peel and a chemical peel?

These terms are often used interchangeably. However a medical strength peel is often referring to a stronger peel that affects the deeper layers of skin. A chemical peel can be any depth from light surface peels to deeper peels.

Does a medical grade peel hurt?

Peels can feel a little hot or stinging while applied or after but there is no intense pain.

What will my face look like after a medical peel?

It depends on the exact peel to the degree of symptoms, but expect some redness for the first few days followed by dry dead skin peeling off on days 3-7 to reveal soft, pink, healthier skin.
