Complete removal of annoying skin tags
Skin tags can occur as a solitary lesion or in clusters of a few or many. They commonly appear on the neck, armpits and groin. They are small soft skin growths on a stalk that are skin coloured or brown.

What techniques are used?
Our doctors and dermal clinicians offer safe and effective skin tag removal in Geelong using advanced techniques. Depending on the size and location of your skin tags, we may use freezing (cryotherapy), laser or a small shave excision technique performed by one of our experienced skin doctors.
What size skin tags can be removed?
Small skin tags in clusters (<1mm – 5mm) can be treated with Cryotherapy, performed by either our dermal clinicians or doctors.
Larger skin tags >5mm may need a laser treatment or shave excision by one of our skin doctors and will be sent for pathology testing.
Preparing for your appointment
Before your appointment for skin tag removal at Geelong Veins Skin & Laser, we like you to have had a skin cancer check within the past 12 months with either our skin doctors or your own GP.
Post-treatment guidelines
After you’ve had your skin tag removed, we recommend:
- No swimming for 7 days
- Skin tags treated with Cryotherapy will scab and fall off within 1 week post cryotherapy
- Silicone gel or antiseptic ointment can be applied
For small skin tags we can treat a whole area of up to around 20-30.
Most skin tags will resolve with one treatment, but if you have a lot of them, or they are larger, then you may need to repeat the treatment 4 weekly until they are all cleared.
Skin tags form in areas where skin rubs. They occur more with age, genetic tendency and obesity. Apart from reducing your weight if you are in the obese range, there is not much you can do to prevent them forming. The good news is that skin tag removal at Geelong Veins Skin & Laser is a straightforward and effective procedure.
