FACT: At Geelong Veins, Skin and Laser we have been enhancing people’s lips with fillers for years. There are literally hundreds of “our lips” out and about in Geelong that everyone is admiring as beautiful natural lips.
The media loves the hype of anything to sell a story and sadly it is often the shock tactics that get noticed.
Lips are meant to be soft, beautiful and natural. Lips frame our mouth and when augmenting them it’s important to take into consideration how each patient moves their lips when they speak and smile. We always take a gentle approach towards any cosmetic procedure and prefer to give our clients a rejuvenated and natural look.
FICTION: Fillers are unnatural and toxic.
FACT: Fillers are made from a gel-like substance that our body produces naturally called hyaluronic acid (HA). This sterile hyaluronic acid identically mimics the composition and structure of the hyaluronic acid in our body and replaces volume that we’ve lost due to age or diet.
FICTION: Anti-Wrinkle Injections and Fillers are the same things.
FACT: Anti-Wrinkle (botulinum toxin) injections cause muscles to relax so the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles are reduced. Dermal filler is made from Hyaluronic Acid (HA) and replaces lost volume to fill out folds of the skin. Although BT and HA fillers are completely different products and work in totally different ways, they are great as partners in achieving a smoother rejuvenated appearance.
FICTION: Everyone will know what I’ve had done.
FACT: At Geelong Veins, Skin and Laser we consistently achieve beautiful and natural results for our patients, often their nearest and dearest may not realise are due to a filler treatment. It’s our aim that no-one will know what you’ve had done, but everyone will notice how good you look.
We do at times have requests from patients for celebrity looking features, which can work as a good guide for communication, but we will always adjust our plan to suit your particular features and face and provide the best natural result for you as an individual.
We will work to your personal preference while retaining a high professional standard and code of ethics that we practice. We ensure patients have the safest and best cosmetic outcome in line with their expectations, however, we are clear with everyone that we will not make people look like plastic.
FICTION: Have Anti-Wrinkle Injections now so you don’t get wrinkles later.
FACT: This is a funny one but quite simple. The sales pitch of having Botulinum Toxin early so you never get wrinkles is just that; a sales pitch to unnecessarily part you with your money. While Botulinum Toxin will stop the muscle movement that creates creases in the skin and results in wrinkles forming there is an unnecessary group of younger patients asking for this way too early.
We would always recommend regular skin treatments with our Dermal Clinicians to keep skin in optimum condition. When any fine lines begin to appear, that is the time to discuss Botulinum Toxin with our Cosmetic Nurse and Doctor.
